Fifty Shades of Grey - E.L. James (Book one)

This trilogy has been getting a lot of press lately (good and bad).

The literary crowd cannot believe how popular this book has become.

It has been on the New York Times Best Sellers List at Number One for 5 weeks, with the 2nd book in the series as Number Two, with the 3rd book in 5th position.    How many authors can say they have 3 of their books on the Top Ten List at the same time!    You can see why I was interested in seeing what the fuss is all about!

I am reviewing just the first book, Fifty Shades of Grey.

The story centres on young college grad, Anastasia "Ana" Steele, and her "dark and stormy" boyfriend Christian Grey.    He is a very successful young CEO who has a darker side.    This book is not for the faint of heart ... it gets very graphic!  There is some BDSM, which is part of the central dilemma in the story.   Ana is very innocent and Mr. Grey is not.   Can their relationship survive this huge impasse?

It reads like an "adult" Twilight book.   Much more racy, and the characters are not so innocent.   It is a fun read, and it is hard to put down, not only because of the shock value, but also because you want to find out what happens and if the relationship can survive.

I was going to comment on how Book One ends, but then I think that would take away from the experience ... so I am going to continue on to book Two.

Has anyone else read this?
