This post would have been up a couple of days ago, but I wanted to make this book last and slowed down. When I like a book, I tend to devour it and then regret reading it so quick!
I have enjoyed many of Anne Rice's books in the past, her Vampire Series, her Witch Series and I have read one of the Angel series. It was no surprise when she picked Werewolves. It seems Werewolves are right up there with Vampires these days! And I was not disappointed with her decision, this one is a winner.
The main character, Reuben, is an easy character to like, and throughout the book you are cheering for him to survive and figure out just what happened to him and why. I will not go into detail on this book because I think it would spoil it.
At times the philosophy and theology discussions between characters (or thoughts of one character) are a bit long. It is worth plowing through (and you might actually find you not only enjoy it, but learn some new perspective or author that you are tempted to check out).
I am hoping that she will continue this series ... and I think the ending may allow for this. It could easily go either way (and I am not giving anything away with that statement!).
I give this book a 4 out of 5!
My next read is from a Canadian author in Ontario, a physician from McMaster University. Dr. Ross Pennie, who is an esteemed Infectious Disease Specialist. From the title of his book, I think he is writing up his own alley ... "Tainted"
You can check out his website at www.rosspennie.ca
Until next time .... Good Reading!
